Taco Tuesday

Posted on Fri Dec 6th, 2019 @ 2:17am by Lieutenant T'Ryn Shannon

Mission: Olympus Has Fallen
Location: King's Quarters

King went to the hydroponics bay and got a tomato, several types of peppers, and a sweet onion. Then he went to the mess hall. There was a handshake and he got flank steak. He got soft corn tortillas, cooked rice, and cooked beans. Then he went back to his quarters and began to cook. He was making homemade tacos, and started by putting the tortilla on a warming plate. He turned on the griddle and sliced the beef, put some scorpion and ghost pepper sauce on it. Then he sliced the peppers and onions. After the meat cooked, he moved it too a bowl, and put the veggies in the griddle. He sprinkled brown sugar on them as they carmelized a little. He turned off the griddle. Then he moved tortillas to the plate, two each. Meat with peppers on the tortillas. Beans and rice on the side. He took the griddle apart. He set up the iced tea maker, sugar on the ice, and waited for it to brew. He set up cups on the table with ice in them. He checked the time, two minutes to seven. He took the time to lower his heart rate.

T'Ryn was dressed conservatively, blue flowing pants with a yellow blouse with gold trim on the neck and sleeves. Her hair tied back showing her pointed ears, and just a hint of makeup. Nothing extravagant mind you as she really didn't need it. She hadn't had homemade tacos since San Francisco and was looking forward to it and some time with King.

Arriving at his quarter's she tapped the door chime and waited.

King got his heart rate down, when he heard the chime. His heartrate went up. He walked over to the door and opened, "Hi Beautiful." He took her hand and kissed it, then led her to the table. "Behold, tacos."

"Arthur your heart is racing again", T'Ryn said softly as she put her hand on his face and temple and melded quickly. She slowed his heart rate down gradually and broke the meld. "Now you are at peace once more", she said smiling. Her nose picked up the scent of her favorite dish, "Ah.....they smell wonderful my love. How did you ever get the real ingredients out here?", she asked.

King grinned, "Hydroponics bay and the mess hall. I have contacts in SFI. I can get ingredients, seeds, and other things normal people can't through normal channels. It means, people owe me favors. I want to share something with you tonight. I think, you might be able to see it. First, dinner." He pulled out her chair for her.

"Thank you Arthur", T'Ryn said as she sat down and waited for him to sit as well. "What do you want to share with me? You have piqued my curiosity now", she added as she took a sip of the iced tea. "Mmmmmm delicious tea my love".

King looked at her, "Memories and Stories. Where I come from." He sat across from her. "Ancestry makes me strong. To share that with someone is important. "

Looking at him, "Ah....ancestry and memories.......they do indeed make one strong. I have a long ancestry which makes me very logical yet also very emotional as well", T'Ryn said taking a bite of her taco.

King looked at her, "I like this recipe for tacos. Spicy and sweet, a balance that creates a bite and after bite. This is one of the things my grandfather taught me to cook." He ate his tacos. "The first time we met, you saw the grove and firepit that is my peaceful and happy place. When I trained to my job, Vulcans and Betazoids were brought in to train our minds to make sure we wouldn't break. In the end, they were able to cause me pain, but you walked in and sat at my fire." He was babbling. He closed his eyes, "I want to show you the rest."

"Before you show me the rest, there is something that must be done by us both....we need to recite the bonding poem. It is not a wedding ceremony only our vulcan bonding for now. The wedding will come when we are back on Earth", T'Ryn said softly. Putting her hands in his, she squeezed both hard enough to bring him back to reality.

King looked at her, "I'm not a Vulcan, I'm just a guy on Irish ancestry who offends with his ears, but I will recite it with you, for you."

"You do realize and understand that by taking the vows with me now, we are bonded as mates in the Vulcan traditions. It does not matter if you are a Vulcan. As before, when you touched my hand, I saw your happy grove and that was the instant linking for us. This is why we can communicate telepathically, I imprinted on your mind", T'Ryn said gently.

King grinned, "I understand. That being said, you should know who I am and what moves me."

"Yes I do know", she said. Taking his hands in hers, she looked directly into his eyes, "Repeat after me and it is done....

Make of our hands one hand
Make of our minds one mind
Make of our vows one last vow
Only death will part us now.

Make of our lives one life
Day after day one life
Now it begins now it starts
One hand, one mind,
Even death won't part us now.

Now you Arthur", T'Ryn said softly.

He responded in turn. He knew she would see his mind.

Make of our hands one hand
Make of our minds one mind
Make of our vows one last vow
Only death will part us now.

Make of our lives one life
Day after day one life
Now it begins now it starts
One hand, one mind,
Even death won't part us now.

Releasing his hands, "This is the Vulcan bonding vow. Half of our bond is now complete. The other half, Betazoid, will be done according to Betazoid custom", T'Ryn said smiling at Arthur. She looked through his eyes and saw the grove of trees and him sitting there smiling. His face showed how happy and content he was. "I see your grove of trees and you. What more do you wish I see?", she asked.

He focused his mind and because in his faith, he showed her his family. They weren't really here, but his minds interpretation of them. His favorite memory. Him talking to his father about how to deal with a bully when he was 6. His mother smacking him in the back of the head for missing the old woman carrying groceries and him not offering to help. Fighting with his siblings.

His favorite place, other than the grove in his mind, it was his grandfather's house. It appeared. A fireplace and mantel. His grandfather, was now gone, but the stories were what started his love of history. The sword on the mantel had Vulcan writing on his. His grandfather told a story of a starving village seeing a fireball in the sky, the earth shaking, and green blooded Sidhe coming from the Mountains, injured and hungry. The starving village shared what little they had with them. The Sidhe used their knowledge to turn them into a prosperous village, but secretive. The Sidhe couldn't get home to the Faerlands, so they took wives and husbands. His grandfather ended the story with, "That is why we have beautiful pointed ears."

"That reminds me of a story we were told when I was a child. Something about our elders coming from what humans call faries. I really never believed that was true until I was shown in an ancient literary book a picture of a farie and they do have pointed ears", she said.

It was like his grandfather was narrarating, in his mind the scene changed. His grandfather was telling the story of Cu Chulainn. He looked at her, "The majority on Earth don't recognize the fae anymore. If you were an Alien that crash landed, it is easier to let the people believe you are something from their own lore than to teach them something new. This way don't completely violate the Prime Directive. That crash landing took place during the Vulcan First Warp Age. If they were Vulcan, then it was before the purity of logic." Cu Chulainn jumped inside a dragon's mouth and killed it from the inside out. "I don't know if there were dragons or if this was my ancestors being pretty and eloquent with words. It could be writers telling a story and describing things they didn't understand." He was sharing this because his grandfather telling these stories of his ancestors shaped who he was.

T'Ryn was facinated by his explanation of the story. Now she understood why she could clearly see into his mind. It like looking into a story book, so vivid and alive yet so interesting. With her abilities, his stories came to life in her mind as she saw them.

King looked at her and squeezed her hand, "My family has run head long into danger, since the beginning." The story his grandfather was telling now was Hrolf the Walker. A very large Viking was yanking people off of horses and dropping them on their heads. The strength of twisting someone in armor, off the horse and upside down on their heads, was epic. "It isn't the Vulcanoid blood. It isn't being descended from an augmented soldier. It is all of our history. This is what my family does, we run headlong into hell, so others don't have to. My grandfather is still alive. If we have children, I want them to sitt on that rug and listen to stories like I did."

"Arthur.....do not worry. Our children will sit on that rug and we will carry on the traditions of your family and mine. The stories will be sung and all will learn of our families bravery", T'Ryn said softly as she placed her hand strategically on the side of his head and melded with him and their minds became as one.

Arthur shared his thoughts with her, his feelings, his past. He didn't fight it. The only thing that he didn't share was the stuff that was classified. She might be able to get the classified stuff, but it would hurt them both if she tried. He shared the rest though, the first time he had sex, which he considered a failure because he didn't last ten minutes, his first threesome, the first time he dominated a woman, and the fact he was still sleeping with other women until she declared intent to do this. His favorite boardgame, win or lose, is Monopoly. His favorite style of martial arts, Jujitsu, the old Japanese style where you had to learn ten disciples. For some of his memories, she was him and felt what he felt.

Experiencing his memories and his past exploits, she came to understand more of the man she chose to be her mate. He still hid behind a barrier certain things that will remain hidden until time allows it to be seen. Slowly she released him from the meld and looked softly into his eyes. "You showed me a great deal of your family's history. For that I am grateful. It makes me better able to understand you and your lineage. There was a barrier that I respected because I know of your reasons for it being there", T'Ryn said softly.

King looked at her, "You have my word, I won't keep anything there that wouldn't be detrimental to Intelligence Operations. What I know about Intelligence could have an effect on active Field Intelligence for twenty and thirty years. I won't put their lives in danger. I have no fear of showing you the rest."

"I would never put anyone's life in danger ever unless it was my own", T'Ryn said calmly.

King leaned in and kissed T'ryn.

T'Ryn returned the kiss, "Arthur, I have to return to duty in two hours. I think it best if we could part company. As much as I would enjoy remaining here I really must go", she said sadly.

Walker kissed her again, "Who am I to bawk at duty? Think of me." He smacked her on the ass hard and kissed her again.

Looking back at Arthur she smiled and left him looking after her.

T'Ryn turned around and walked back to King and slapped the hell out of him. "I told you how I hated being smacked on my backside right? You broke the rule and I am finished. How DARE you do that again after you swore you would not do it", T'Ryn demanded.

Arthur looked surprised and in shock. "But I....."

T'Ryn cul him short and said....." This is not for you to debate. I told you to stop hitting me on my ass and you insisted. Now you want me to reciprocate? Get out, get out of my life and out of my quarters," she said, starring him dead in the face.

"That's it I am gone and off this ship," King said storming out of her quarters.

T'Ryn broke all of the ties that they had and destroyed the candles. That being done and said, she went down to engineering to be left alone.......
